Macy Gray’s performance in Canggu, Bali
was apparently so bad on Saturday night that the venue, Finns Beach
Club, has publicly announced it will be refunding the cost of general
admission tickets.
Concert-goers went in expecting the
legendary raspy stylings of the singer who put out the hit single “I
try” years ago (c. 1999), but instead got one very poorly executed
“Happy Birthday” song and a playlist off a laptop, along with other
incoherent and incomplete ditties. To make matter worse, it all happened
hours later than the published start time of 4pm, so the crowd already
seemed irritable from having to spend so much time waiting around (and
money for food and drinks in the mean time).
Th

e poster for the American singer’s show
at Finns advertised “featured special guest DJ” and “live songs” from
the Grammy award-winner, so naturally most people went in thinking Gray
would be singing. The show sure sounded like it would be a great one (we
even included it on our weekend event’s guide), but the singer’s time
on stage in Bali seems to go on and demonstrate that her best days as a
performer are behind her.Read more@
