Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) reported that more than 50 percent of Bali citizens have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Cok Ace reported that about 2 million people in Bali out of a total population of 4.32 million spread across 9 different locations around the island have been vaccinated. "We are very grateful to hear this positive news, and according to the WHO criteria, we could theoretically achieve herd immunity once we distribute the vaccine to at least 70% of our population, so we are getting there," Cok Ace said on Wednesday. (2/6).

Cok Ace said that in order to achieve herd immunity, Bali must administer the Covid-19 vaccine to at least 3 million Bali citizens. Meanwhile, Secretary of the Bali Covid-19 Handling Task Force I Made Rentin revealed that as of Thursday (6/3), 2,686,370 people have been vaccinated, according to the latest statistics. “As of today (3/6), 1,325,407 residents have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and the remaining 724,324 people have completed the second round of vaccination,” Rentin said.

Rentin said authorities want to offer Covid-19 vaccination to medical personnel, the elderly, civil servants and public residents. Despite the rapid delivery of Covid-19 vaccination, Rentin advises individuals to continue following preventive practices. “Despite the success of our vaccination campaign so far, we must continue to follow preventive practices such as wearing masks, sanitizing our hands and limiting our movements to avoid further transmissions,” Rentin concluded.
