The provincial government of Bali hopes that Bali will receive a steady flow of domestic tourists starting this week.

Bali Deputy Governor Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) has confirmed that Bali is expected to receive a significant increase in domestic visitors during the Eid holiday season which begins on April 29.

“We expect to receive 18,000 to 20,000 domestic visitors per day during the upcoming holiday season, while we received more than 13,000 domestic visitors during the holiday season last year,” Cok Ace said on Friday ( 22/4).

While this shouldn't affect international arrivals, Cok Ace is optimistic that it will encourage most domestic tourists to start traveling again.

Cok Ace admits that although the border has reopened to foreign tourists, hotel occupancy across the island has only reached 10%.

“Although we have reopened the borders to international visitors, most of our hotels have not even exceeded 10% occupancy. Some of them are 60% full, but that's only in some areas like Nusa Dua and Ubud,” Cok Ace added.

He also explained that most international visitors are concentrated in areas in the Badung region, such as Canggu, Nusa Dua, Kerobokan and Kuta. Some choose other places to stay.
