Authorities from Bali’s
Marine Force have begun distributing the Covid-19 vaccine at Gilimanuk Port on
Friday (6/8).
Colonel I Komang Teguh Ardana, Commander of the
Denpasar Marine Force, said on Friday that as part of his help to the
government in dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak in Bali, he started a
vaccination program at one of the island's key gates. Colonel Ardana
stated on Friday (6/8) that “many people in the area expressed enthusiasm in
joining our vaccination campaign today at Gilimanuk Port.”
Ardana noted that some of the people who received the
Covid-19 vaccine at this vaccination station were required to do so before
boarding a ship to Java. He also plans to distribute the vaccine to senior
folks and children (aged 12 to 18) in the Gilimanuk area as soon as possible.
Colonel Ardana remarked, "This is the third time the Marine Force has
opened a vaccination facility and delivered the Sinovac vaccine to public
residents."
Prior to this campaign, Admiral Iwan Isnurwanto, Fleet
Coordinator Commander II, asked all of his troops to support the vaccination
program in the area surrounding their base in order to build herd immunity
in Bali's coastal area. “I urge people to always follow prevention procedures,
such as wearing facemasks, performing physical separation, decreasing mobility,
keeping our hands sanitized, avoiding crowds, and participating in the vaccine
program, so we can finally conquer this pandemic,” Admiral Iwan concluded.
