Garuda Indonesia acted swiftly on Ministry's instruction and grounded its only unit of Boeing. The Boeing is of 737 MAX make and it was supposed to operate by Monday.
“We have conducted extra inspections into our aircraft’s airspeed and altitude system and stall management system, among other things. Everything was in good condition. No fault was found,” said Garuda Indonesia president director, I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra.
This decision of grounding all Boeing 737 MAX 8 air crafts in the country due to the recent crash incidence in Ethiopia. This decision makes Indonesia the second country after China to ban MAX series aircraft worldwide. This decision was to ensure that the brand new airplane was in ideal condition to fly for the safety of air transportation for the passengers.
Lion Air also confirmed that it will comply with ministry's order of grounding the boeing fleet. Lion Air also stated that they have been following the standards operating procedures for inspection and maintenance.
“Lion Air will work to minimize the impact of the grounding on our flight operations,” the carrier’s spokesperson Danang Mandala Prihantoro said.
