As Indonesia facing a fresh rise of COVID-19 cases, a
TikTok video showing huge lineups at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport
should raise our collective eyebrows, but an airport official is optimistic for
even more arrivals; as long as health regulations are followed, of course.
The footage, which was shot only yesterday, showed
people creating lineups to check in for flights at Ngurah Rai Airport.
Taufan Yudhistira, spokesman for Ngurah Rai, told
Kumparan today that Bali has experienced a surge in both departures and
arrivals over the weekend.
According to reports, around 7,000 people arrived in
Bali yesterday, while over 8,000 flew out of the province.
“We expect to see an increase in passengers in the
future.” Noting that all passengers must follow health regulations, wash their
hands often, and wear their masks correctly,” Taufan added.
Taufan said that the airport had an 80 percent
increase in passenger traffic in June compared to May, and that he expects a
continuous flow of travelers for the rest of the month.
