The Balinese government is increasingly optimistic about the recovery of the island's tourism sector, as international flights are expected to continue to arrive.

Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport reopened for international flights on February 4, with flights from Tokyo's Narita Airport carrying 12 tourists (previously reported 6 people), ushering in the island's tourism renaissance. In yesterday's update, Bali Governor Wayan Koster teased the relaunch of two upcoming international routes to the island.

"On February 16, Singapore Airlines will arrive from Singapore carrying a large number of passengers," Koster said in a written statement.

After that date, Singapore Airlines is expected to operate daily flights from Singapore to Bali.

Confirming recent reports, Koster also said Australian airline Jetstar is also expected to resume direct services to Bali from Melbourne and Sydney in March.

"Hopefully there will be no new obstacles," said the governor about the prospects for international tourism in Bali.

In addition, the airport management of PT Angkasa Pura I has confirmed that Jetstar has submitted a request to reactivate its services to Bali. In addition, he said, Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia is trying to restart the Tokyo Narita-Bali route, while cheap Indonesia Batik Air also wants to connect Singapore to Bali.

"As for the date [of the relaunch of these routes], we cannot confirm it yet," said Taufan Yudhistira, Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I.

If you are a foreign tourist visiting Bali in the near future, keep in mind the current COVID-19 restrictions on the island.
