A Balinese official has warned local traders in the Kuta Beach area to stop crushing beach goers.

Kuta Beach Management Task Force Chairman Wayan Sirna confirmed that his party called on all local traders in the Kuta Beach area to stop their bad behavior towards tourists.

“Last Saturday (4/12) we told them to provide the best service to their customers and to avoid doing things that could potentially make visitors uncomfortable,” said Sirna, Monday (12 / 6).

Sirna has heard many complaints from visitors to Kuta Beach who have been threatened and extorted by local traders. Some vendors even charge their customers high prices for beach foot massages.

Sirna assured that any seller who tried to break the rules would face consequences from the authorities.

“Any tourist who experiences the same thing from a local trader can report it to the authorities. And, if traders are found guilty, they can lose their trader cards and cannot manage their business on the beach, ”Sirna added.

However, Sirna still hopes that visitors to the beach can support the surrounding community by purchasing and using the services of local traders to help them survive the Covid-19 pandemic.
