Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy has high hopes of attracting digital nomads from all around the world with a new long-term visa that would allow foreign tourists to stay in the country for up to five years.

Previously new innovative has been encouraged by Sandiaga that can boost and help survive the tourism Industry with the on going corona virus pandemic. Attracting digital nomads is one of them. In the start of this year, he invited people throughout the country to study and work from Bali and shared that he is working closely on introducing policies that can further support such programs.

Yesterday, he said digital nomads might consider Bali as a destination if Indonesia starts offering long-term visas. 

“This is a prerequisite so that even more digital nomads from around the world would consider Bali as their second home, and more people will work from home,” Sandiaga said, emphasizing the rising trend of digital nomadism across the globe. 

“We see the trend of digital nomad [and] staycation. If one works from Bali and is not too far from the beach, this is appealing, especially with good weather, beautiful culture, and friendly people.”

With a lot of other plans in motion to restart the foreign tourism, Sandiaga stated that such programs must be simultaneously realize to help boost and revitalize the battered economy of Bali.
