The Gianyar Police Department has chosen to use a police bus to
transport scores of unvaccinated older residents in Gianyar.
Kompol I Nyoman Wirajaya, Deputy Chief of the Gianyar Police
Department, revealed that he has sent his officers to begin collecting up
hundreds of senior persons in Gianyar who are still unwilling to obtain the
Covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday (28/9). “According to our research, many of
Gianyar's senior citizens were still unvaccinated. So we decided to pick them
up from their houses and transport them to vaccination sites using our bus.”
According to Kompol Wirajaya.
Kompol Wirajaya also acknowledged that this program was more
effective in teaching the public about the importance of the Covid-19 immunization.
Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Sarjana, the official from Keramas Village Gianyar,
revealed that he has been struggling to ensure the senior residents in his area
that the vaccine is safe. “Prior to this initiative, we had a total of 160
unvaccinated senior individuals, but we are grateful to the police for
successfully picking them up to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine.” Sarjana
explained.
Despite being successfully transported to vaccination sites, some
older individuals were not vaccinated owing to physical difficulties, and they
were obliged to wait until they recovered from their ailments. “We have
deployed all of our officers in Gianyar to help this vaccination program in
order to attain herd immunity in our area in the near future.” Kompol Wirajaya
concluded.
