Officials from the Denpasar City Government have decided to close down several quarantine facilities as Covid-19 has significantly decreased.

I Dewa Gede Rai, spokesman for the Denpasar Covid-19 Handling Task Force, revealed that Denpasar officials recently shuttered three distinct quarantine facilities in Denpasar since Covid-19 transmission has considerably decreased in recent weeks. “Because Denpasar is classified as an epidemiological orange zone under Covid-19, we chose to close three of our nine quarantine facilities.” On Saturday (11/9), Gede Rai stated.

Gede Rai revealed that just 35% of the 6 quarantine facilities with a combined capacity of 1,114 beds are now filled. “Of the nearly 1,000 beds available in various facilities across Denpasar to accommodate asymptomatic Covid-19 patients, just 388 are now occupied, which is considered quite low.” Gede Rai chimed in.

He also intends to focus more on employing hotels in the Sanur area as quarantine facilities as Covid-19 cases decline over time. “In order to decrease the working area of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Officers, we aim to use two or three hotels in the Sanur area as quarantine facilities, which will also reduce the mobility of our medical team and officers.” Gede Rai concluded.
