Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno has announced that Bali will reopen to international tourists on February 4, 2022.

In a virtual weekly press conference on Monday (31/1), Sandiaga confirmed that the central government has decided to reopen Bali's borders to international visitors from all countries starting Friday (4/2).

"We will try to implement this policy on February 4," Sandiaga said, Monday. Visa and health insurance requirements will be regulated in a separate regulation which will be issued in the following days.

Sandiaga also announced that the direct flight policy will no longer be in effect starting February 4. Visitors arriving late can use direct flights or connecting flights to enter the island.

Garuda Indonesia has confirmed that it will resume direct flights between Narita (Japan) and Bali, while Singapore Airlines will resume daily flights to Bali on February 16. Other airlines are expected to resume direct flights, especially as demand increases.

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said a decision had been made to revive tourism in Bali, but visitors were still required to self-quarantine under current travel policies. .

“Visitors who are vaccinated will still have to undergo quarantine for five to seven days. They have the option of staying in five different hotels and six ships on board ships with a Clean Health Safety Environment (CHSE) certification from the Ministry of Tourism.

The Indonesian government will soon decide on the status of other Bali requirements, such as the types of visas that will be available to incoming tourists. It has been very difficult for travelers to enter Bali in recent months due to the suspension of the visa on arrival program.

If the government decides to reactivate the visa-on-arrival system, tourists may be willing to go through a 5-day quarantine plan to finally gain access to Bali again, but without a visa-on-arrival system. would still be too difficult for more.
