A virus is an invisible nasty little thing that takes pride in attaching itself to the host and by reproducing steadily, it causes attacks and damages mercilessly. The most worrisome part about this virus (COVID-19) is that unfortunately not everyone who carries it shows the symptoms. It means that it may lurk silently inside a person next to you who appears to be normal healthy yet highly infectious. So in short its extremely annoying and dangerous.

Having said that, being well and fit is very important in this outbreak and the previous ones (and SARS and MERS before this). The data tells us that the fitter and healthier you are, less likely it is to affect you or even affect you at all let alone badly affecting. Your recovery period will be quick and symptoms will be milder. So its a huge incentive right now to be healthier.

But how to do that? Simple: diet and exercise! You’ve heard it all before, but I think it’s time to really take note and do something. We try not to think about the linkage between our weight, our diet and our fitness to our health. “Yes,”  we say “ I may be a bit overweight, but that’s okay , it’s normal.”

Actually when you get down to the basics, its really not. There is indeed a direct link with consequences between all these things including diabetes, heart attacks, strokes and other. Most of these common complaints and issues are prevented by good eating habits and workout routine.

So if we are in the higher risk category that doesn't work out we are to take Covid-19 and its other scary friends and get affected with uncomfortably maximum risks. This all sounds very serious, and sadly it is, there is no doubt about it, we need to be vigilant, careful and disciplined. But forgetting about the current fixation on COVID-19, we just need to do the best for ourselves – everyday!

Bali is a great place to drive yourself to a healthy routine and fresh good food. You can take walks on the beach, run there, swim in the sea, go to spas or yoga retreats or join a gym. You will never have a good excuse to not to get healthier but of course even with all this, cautious is the key and so is self isolation for now.
