Wayan Koster, Governor of Bali shared that his administration is aiming to vaccinate minimum 2.8 million people in 100 days. The officials are seeking to vaccinate at least 70% of the population of Bali to achieve herd immunity.

Around 140,000 people have been vaccinated already as per provincial data. 44,000 of them have already received the both required doses

since the province started inoculating people in mid-January.

“I am working on getting more than 2.8 million people vaccinated as soon as possible,” Koster said at a press conference in Denpasar.

The official timeline of the set target started on 23rd March and is expected to wrap up by June 30, with an average of 28,602 vaccinations to be done daily. This shows that Bali requires about 5.72 million dozes of vaccine.  Koster said that the province currently has 710,480 doses ready to be administered, including 200,000 doses from AstraZeneca.

CoronaVac, is the only vaccination used by Indonesia so far which is developed by Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac, however  they are going to administer AstraZeneca vaccines this week.

Koster also shared that administration may start using the public facilities as vaccination centers as long as the logistical requirements are met that include internet, basic furniture and the availability of medical workers to perform routine tasks.

Bali reportedly has 716 vaccinators on duty, with thousands of others providing support in the mass vaccination program, comprising both health workers and non-health workers.
