Two regions in Bali will begin vaccinating the general public members this week with AstraZeneca after Bali managed to surpass their target for vaccination.

Health Ministry stats show that 801,192 people, or 111.9 percent of the provincial target, have received their first vaccine dose in Bali, while 313,896 people have so far received their second dose. This is a great achievement and puts Bali on the top of the provinces with highest dosage coverage of vaccination throughout Indonesia. Health workers, the elderly and public service workers are among those first targeted in Indonesia’s mass vaccination program.

Nusa Penida and Denpasar Officials in Klungklung regency confirmed that public will start receiving the vaccination this week and other regions in Bali are expected to follow.

“For now, members of the public who are above 17 years of age will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca,” Denpasar Mayor Jaya Negara said.

Jaya shared that 55 percent of population in Denpasar has already been vaccinated so far and the target for the city is to vaccinate 100,000 more people this month.

“If we can reach 100,000 people then we will surpass our target of [vaccinating] 70 percent [of the population,” he explained.

Chief of Denpasar City Health Agency shared that they have enough amount of vaccinations as of now. The stock of Denpasar is based on 10,000 Sinovac and 100,000 from AstraZeneca. First recipients are set to receive AstraZeneca, while those who received Sinovac for their first shots will still be administered the same for their second.
