Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier is all set to launch its new international route Bali-Medan-Amsterdam on Tuesday. This move is going to change the journey of the passengers who have already bought their Jakarta-Amsterdam direct flight tickets.

“For passengers who previously hold Jakarta-Amsterdam tickets, we will fly them to Kualanamu [International Airport in North Sumatra] from Jakarta and then continue the journey to Amsterdam and vice versa,” Garuda Indonesia commercial director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah said in a statement received by The Jakarta Post on Friday.

Pikri further stated that this move is a way forward of airline's commitment into covering the increasing demand of Bali and Medan market. As this will develop and promote Indonesian tourism via two popular cities and destinations through Amsterdam service.

This new flight route will be active six days a week from Tuesday till Sunday. The flights will be covered via Airbus A330-200, it can easily accommodate 36 business and 186 economy class passengers.

“As one of the most congested hubs in the west part of Indonesia, Medan serves as a strategic option for Garuda Indonesia to offer a more varied flight connectivity to Amsterdam and vice versa,” said Pikri, adding that Medan and Bali currently had at least 40 daily flights from and to Jakarta.

According to the current schedule the first flight for Bali-Medan-Amsterdam will depart at 8:25 Pm from Ngurah Rai International airport. The flight will arrive at Medan’s Kualanamu Airport at 11:15 p.m local time. The flight will then further depart for Amsterdam at  7:50 am local time.

The GA089 return flight will depart from Amsterdam at 12:05 pm local time and then land at Medan at 6:25 Am local time, will finally then take off for Bali at 7:05 am and land at Ngurah Rai Airport at 11:05 local time.
