VICE x POTATO HEAD: KAMASI WASHINGTON- Saturday 25 August 2018

In continuation of Potato Head’s biannual collaboration with media leaders VICE, Kamasi Washington and his 12-piece jazz band will hit our shores this Saturday for a night filled of heartfelt funk. LA native Kamasi was initially known for his work as a jazz saxophonist, however he is increasingly recognized for his unique ability to elevate jazz beyond its conventions by unexpectedly yet successfully mixing in trip-hop, funk, latin, hip-hop, R&B and classical music. This rare approach has seen Kamasi working alongside acclaimed artist such as John Legend and most recently Kendrick Lamar on his two last albums, wherein the Kamasi’s jazzy element was flawlessly fused with Lamar’s husky voice. Adding to his list of accomplishments has culminated in Kamasi performing at festivals from Coachella to Glastonbury.
