Even though it was previously announced that international tourists will be allowed to enter Bali in September but that seems highly unlikely now. As the cases have begun to rise again in Bali, Governor Koster has announced to postpone the decision of opening Bali to International tourism until early 2021. As the tourism is the backbone of Bali, domestic tourists have been allowed to visit Bali since 31st July.
“After considering all the current factors that are of serious concern, it can't be done” Koster said in Uluwatu, Bali.
“Until the end of 2020, the Provincial Government of Bali will optimize efforts to bring domestic tourists to Bali in order to restore tourism and the economy of Bali,” Koster stated.
The press release also stated that at the moment government of Bali will only focus on domestic tourism. In the press conference Governor also asked for the support of the people to adhere the health protocols in place.
“I invite all parties to help control this together, so that everyone can handle this. It cannot be just the government, but commitment and shared responsibility from stakeholders, business actors and the community,” he concluded.
An official press release signed by the Governor of Bali also confirmed the news. “The situation in Indonesia is not yet conducive to allow foreign tourists to visit Indonesia, including Bali.”
“The regulation signed by the Minister of Law and Human Rights that prohibits foreigners from entering Indonesia is still in effect. The Indonesian government will not allow for the entry of foreign tourists to Indonesia until the end of 2020, because Indonesia is still in the red zone category.”
Now while it may seem a little demotivating to the travelers who were looking forward to their visit, they need to understand that Bali can not afford the spread of the outbreak so take a breather, good times will come back soon.
