34 tourism organizations in Bali have asked the Indonesian president to review current travel and entry conditions.

The President of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI), Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana, confirmed that an open letter had been sent to the president to adjust the current travel requirements for international visitors. GIPI recently proposed to the President to revise entry requirements which significantly affect the tourism sector which has struggled to thrive during the global Covid-19 pandemic.

"We want to speed up this process, we have attended so many meetings with ministers and the central government, but we have not seen any positive results," Adnyana said on Sunday (11/11). He explained that the president would provide a low-interest loan program as a form of financial support for the dying tourism business in Bali.

In addition, Adnyana proposed to the president to completely close the border to international visitors rather than reopen it with entry conditions so strict that they discourage visitors from visiting the island. Instead, they went to another country instead. “The tourism sector is collapsing because the government prioritizes only the health sector and ignores our economy. We suffer a lot because we do not have international visitors because the majority of Balinese depend on it. concludes Adnyana.
