If you’re looking to maximise your Qantas frequent flyer points, you’d better hurry. The Aussie airline is making changes to its program that will mean your points won’t get you as much as they used to.

International flights are hit hardest by the increase, which applies for upgrades across the board (premium economy, business and first).
Editor-in-chief at finder.com.au and points expert, Angus Kidman reveals what the changes mean.
What are the biggest changes to the QFF Points system from Feb 20?
The big change is that if you’ve booked the cheapest economy seats in a sale, you’ll need more points to ask for an upgrade. For instance, an upgrade from sale economy to business on a Sydney-London route used to be 96,000 points; from February 20, it will be 120,000 points. On international flights, the general increase is 25 per cent; it’s a little less on domestic routes.
What can members do to make the most of their points now?
If you’re hoping to get an upgrade on a domestic sector for any flights you’ve booked, make sure you apply before February 20. Unfortunately there’s no such option for international flights, as upgrades aren’t processed immediately.
