The Badung Tourism Agency has proposed the central government to reduce the quarantine period for international travelers once the border reopens.

Cokorda Raka Darmawan, the Head of the Badung Tourism Agency, indicated that the Badung regional government, through the Tourism Agency, suggested to the central government that they relax their entry criteria for international visitors if the border reopens in the near future. “I requested that the quarantine time be reduced from 8 days to merely 2 days of isolation, as long as they proved negative with a PCR test upon arrival at Bali Airport,” Darmawan stated on Monday (27/9).

Darmawan noted that a lengthier quarantine period could make international guests bored. The central government has prepared 5 distinct quarantine facilities for overseas tourists as part of the preparedness steps. “The central government has designated five hotels in Nusa Dua as quarantine facilities for international visitors.” Darmawan elaborated.

He also stated that overseas passengers will be allowed to enter tourism zones provided they have completed their quarantine period and tested negative for Covid-19 upon arrival. Travelers who test positive must begin treatment at one of many designated hospitals in Bali, including the Bali Mandara Hospital, Sanglah Hospital, and Udayana Hospital.

“Each hotel has a maximum occupancy of 200 people, and each guest is required to meet these requirements at their own expense.” Darmawan concluded. As previously reported by The Bali Sun, the central government plans to reopen the international transit corridor in October 2021. Darmawan also stated that the Badung regional administration is prepared to appoint other hotels as extra quarantine facilities if they reach their maximum capacity.
