Pelita Air will restart full commercial services with flights from Jakarta to Bali on April 28, ahead of an increase in the number of domestic tourists expected for the Eid al-Fitr holiday in early May.

The airline is expected to operate daily connections between the capital and the Island of the Gods, with a scheduled flight departing Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 09:20 Jakarta time and arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport at 12:10 WIB from bali. The return flight is due to leave at 2:55 p.m. and arrived at 3:45 p.m.

“In the first stage [the relaunch of commercial services], the first Jakarta-Bali-Jakarta air route will start on April 28, 2022,” Pelita Air CEO Dendy Kurniawan said in a press release today.

Pelita Air received an order for two Airbus A320-200s earlier this month which will serve the Jakarta-Bali route. The airline is expected to receive 23 additional passenger planes in the near future as it aims to become a major player in the domestic aviation scene.

Pelita Air was launched in 1963 as the aviation subsidiary of the state oil and gas company Pertamina. In 2000, full commercial service was launched, but service was discontinued in 2005 amid intense competition in the domestic aviation industry.

Since then, Pelita Air has mainly served charter and cargo flights. Last year he was put forward as a candidate for statehood as Garuda Indonesia struggled under a pile of debt, but the government chose to keep him with an ambitious program to restructure the country's debt.
