The management of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association in Badung has asked tourism companies to stop laying off staff during the pandemic.

Chairman of the Badung Hotel and Restaurant Association I Gusti Agung Rai Suryawijaya said all hotels and restaurants in the Badung area had to find alternatives to lay off their staff, especially during the financial crisis, the current situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"I think management should reconsider terminating employees because these employees will eventually lose their source of income," said Suryawijaya, Sunday (23/1).
Suryawijaya suggested that instead of laying off some staff, the company could choose to reduce working days for all employees and implement shift work so that everyone could survive the crisis.
"Unless the hotel is planning to close, we need to find a better solution for both parties," added Suryawijaya. However, he will continue to review the hotel to help them find the best solution for their struggle.
He also reminded the tourism sector to avoid gatherings of tourism workers, as happened recently at Hotel W in Seminyak.
“When former W Hotel staff protested, the governor called their management team. The governor hopes that hotel managers will be more careful so as not to harm the community more," said Suryawijaya.
