The President has instructed the Finance Ministry and the Directorate General of Taxation to improve services in the tax amnesty program, following complaints of lack of services at the tax amnesty help desks.
"There are people coming to the tax office, but there are no officers [at the help desks], or the officers cannot explain the details of the tax amnesty program," said President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo at a plenary Cabinet meeting on Wednesday in Jakarta.
He further said that he would gather all tax office heads at the State Palace for a briefing in a bid to make the long-awaited program, which is expected to repatriate trillions of rupiah in assets parked overseas, successful.
