Pura Besakih is a temple complex in the
village of Besakih Rendang District, Karangasem on the slopes of Mount Agung and is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Bali, visited by
both domestic and foreign tourists alike. Being the largest Hindu Temple in
Bali it is distinguished by the name of Mother Temple and is said to be the
only temple where a Hindu of any caste can worship.
Perched nearly 1000 meters up the side of Gunung
Agung, it is comprised of an extensive complex of 23 separate but related
temples with the largest and most important being Pura Penataran Agung. Blessed with cool temperatures and covering a
