If you have been to Bali you may have an idea about the traffic situation in the most area specially in Kuta and Legian areas. The authorities have been working hard to improve the situation but somehow it is only getting worst every single day. I Wayan Riasa, head of sub-district Legian Kaja recently discussed this issue openly and commented that he has suggested to make several changes in the route which also includes changing the directions to the Head of Department of Badung Region. However he hasn't received any response yet.

“We were actually wondering about what they think of our suggestion,” said Riasa. “This is a very serious matter. The traffic does not only affect people’s activities but also the tourism sector.”

It is a common understanding the increased number of intersections are the major contributor of the current traffic problems especially on alan Legian, the main one being the aforementioned intersection.

Tofan Priyanto, The Head of Traffic Division from the Transportation Department stated that the whole team including him are in a process of conducting a technical analysis to solve the problem as early as they can. However He also hinted that the suggestions given by the locals are not practical due to the alternative roads being too small to handle the flow.

“We still have not found the right solution to deal with the traffic jams in Legian,” he said. “But that does not mean we are not doing anything about it. We are still reviewing our options.”

He added that he will work closely with the local councils as well as public figures to formulate the best solution.
