Thursday 1st June 2017 wasn't just any other day in Bali as it experienced one of the most ferocious waves on that day. The strong waves knocked five vehicles including trucks on a boat crossing the Bali strait from Java to Bali. It is the third time that such incident is reported in this month only.
The boat was on its merry way between the two Islands and had it to the short crossing without any incident. The incident took place right before it reached the Gilimanuk Dock in Bali. “This was caused by bad weather that suddenly happened in the Bali Strait. The forecast report from BMKG was a maximum sea wave of only 0.8 meters, but looking at the waves in the Bali Strait today, they were very white and frothy from afar, with a height that I estimate was about two meters,” head of the Ketapang Port Operator Unit Class III, Isprianto said.
The trucks that tipped over cause of the strong waves resulted in damaging six vehicles which include one refrigerator truck, a motorcycle, three medium sized trucks and a dump truck.
