Lebaran AKA Idul Fitri is just less than two weeks away. This is one of the most religious event for Muslims throughout the world and so is it in Bali. As it comes closer majority of Muslims around the country will either be returning to their home towns to celebrate the Idul Fitri. An estimate of 1.6 million people will be traveling in and out of Bali especially through two major ports Gilimanuk and Padangbai around 24th June 2017.

Considering the importance of the event a lot of money will be flowing as people will be focusing on buying gifts or giving away cash to little children. So a lot of money is expected to be flowing around which can also involve a large amount of counterfeit money along with the real one. Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Hadi Purnomo has recently issued a statement that circulation of counterfeit money during the fasting month of Ramadan has always been a major concern for them.

Although Purnomo stated that they haven't found any reports of finding or confiscating counterfeit money yet in the field, but he still doesn't want the community to overlook this major issue. Since there are quality of counterfeit money that are so good that it can easily pass UV light detector tests available at the mini markets.

“We are still appealing, that you should go directly to the police if you see anything. We also have a Go-Police app that can be used at any time,”

Purnomo further confirmed that in addition to strict screenings of counterfeit money Bali police will also be focusing on monitoring and taking action against unlicensed money changers which is also a huge concern.
