The very much awaited and highly anticipated tour of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia is going to cause a lot of chaos and panic at Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport. King is due to visit Indonesia on 1st March 2017 till 9th March 2017. During this visit he will stay in Indonesia's Capital Jakarta for a few days before visiting the Island of Gods Bali.

Awaluddin The Head of Public Relations at Ngurah Rai International Airport has confirmed that they will follow the required strict protocols to ensure safety and security of King Salman's arrival at Bali. "When a presidential aircraft arrives, the airport is temporarily closed and priority is given to him or her. This will apply on March 4th” he explained. In accordance with the protocol, Ngurah Rai international Airport will be closed for approximately 45 minutes.

The King's entourage of around 1500 passengers in 8 different air crafts will be managed with special arrangements to facilitate them with smooth operations. The entourage will be consisting of Two Boeings 777's, Four Boeing 747 along with two Hercules C-130's. The only issue the management team is concerned about is the parking of those Boeing Aircrafts at Ngurah Rai International Airport as the giant air crafts are twice the size of the aircrafts like 737 and A320 which usually land at the airport. However if there are issues of having no proper air craft parking the alternate measures will be taken in advance to avoid any inconvenience. They are expected to utilize the Indonesia's second busiest airport for accommodation:

  • King Salman's aircraft will use parking stand B27. As an alternative, the VVIP aircraft can also be parked at B17.
  • Support aircrafts will be parked at B22-B26. It is suggested that some support aircrafts might depart to Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport or Surabaya's Juanda International Airport to ease traffic congestion.
  • Two of the Hercules C-130's will be parked at B28 and B29.
To ensure this visit go smooth without any inconveniences or interruptions a task force has been established by Indonesian Air Force. As there is no estimated arrival time for King Salman, passengers traveling to and from Bali during the arrival of the Saudi King will undoubtedly expect a short delay.
